UGANDA – The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has granted Britania Allied Industries Ltd two prestigious certifications: ISO 9001:15 for Quality Management System and ISO 22000:2018 for Food Safety Management.

The certificates were formally handed over to the Top Management of Britania Allied Industries Limited at their headquarters in Nakawa by Ms. Mariam Nalwoga, the Principal Certification Officer representing the UNBS Ag. Executive Director.

UNBS, with its accreditation by the South African National Accreditation System (SANAS), holds international recognition to provide International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Management Systems Certification.

In April 2022, SANAS renewed the UNBS’ accreditation to provide ISO Management Systems Certification for a three-year period. The Bureau first acquired the SANAS accreditation in 2019.

The SANAS accreditation renewal gave UNBS international credibility to provide certification services to organizations for ISO 22000 Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS).

This achievement underscores Britania Allied Industries’ commitment to upholding the highest standards in quality management and food safety.

Following their merger in late 2002, Britania Foods and Britania Products formed Britania Allied Industries Ltd. The company’s land, which allowed for future growth, was one of the contributing factors in the decision to keep the factory and corporate office in Kampala’s Ntinda Industrial Area.

The company saw phenomenal growth from 2003 to 2006. Britannia Allied Industries Ltd produces biscuits, confectionary, powders, fruit juice, and drinking water at five different sites.

Production at the Mineral Water factory began in 2006, and the Powder portion was added in 2005. The plants that make meals, confections, and biscuits now have more capacity. There are sections for chewing gum and sweets in the confectionary section.

The most well-known biscuits among the many delicious varieties are Glucose, Gluco-Max, Milk, and Cream Biscuits. Schoolchildren’s favorites from the Confectionery line include Menta and Just Fruits.

ISO defines a Management System as the way an organization manages its interconnected business components to achieve its objectives, encompassing aspects such as product or service quality, operational efficiency, environmental performance, and workplace health and safety.

The certification of a company’s Management Systems by ISO is a significant milestone, highlighting the company’s dedication to delivering quality products.

The ISO certifications serve as a testament to Britania Allied Industries’ commitment to excellence, providing assurance to consumers and stakeholders alike about the company’s adherence to stringent quality and safety standards.
