U.S – Revol Greens has enlisted the expertise of Frank Yiannas, the former Deputy Commissioner for Food Policy and Response at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in a move to bolster food safety and revolutionize the salad industry.

Yiannas, renowned for his pivotal role in shaping and implementing transformative initiatives during his tenure at the FDA, will serve as a food safety consultant for Revol Greens.

His remarkable achievements include the development of the FDA’s Fresh Leafy Greens Action Plan, Final Food Traceability Rule, Proposed Agricultural Water Standard, and the New Era of Smarter Food Safety.

With leadership experience at retail giant Walmart and the Walt Disney Company, Yiannas is also the author of “Food Safety Culture” and “Food Safety = Behavior.”

One of Yiannas’ primary tasks will be to review and enhance Revol Greens’ food safety processes, ensuring that they align with the highest industry standards.

Beyond this, he will provide invaluable guidance on incorporating food safety into existing and future production facilities.

His expertise will play a pivotal role in advancing smart, fit-for-purpose agriculture policies and establishing a gold standard of care for the Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) industry to follow.

“I’m delighted to be working with and lending my experience to the Revol Greens team, who have an unwavering commitment to food safety and consumer trust,” Yiannas expressed.

“Today’s food system faces many headwinds, ranging from supply chain bottlenecks, labor shortages, climate change, and available water, as well as continued food safety pressures. Success in this changing environment requires continued innovation in how we grow and produce safe and abundant food for this generation and the next.”

Revol Greens’ Vice President of Food Safety and Compliance, Dr. Dinesh Babu, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing consumers with top-quality and safe products.

“Revol Greens is committed to providing consumers with high-quality and safe products, so we are always looking for ways to elevate our processes,” Dr. Babu said.

“We are thrilled to have Frank, with his deep food safety expertise, engage with our dedicated greenhouse teams and support our efforts to progress policy and industry understanding.”

The salad and lettuce industry has faced significant challenges in recent years, with climate events and food safety concerns threatening supply chains and consumer confidence.

As Revol Greens, a pioneer in sustainable, greenhouse-grown leafy greens, continues to raise the bar for food safety and sustainability, the addition of Frank Yiannas to their team marks a significant step toward ensuring the freshness, safety, and sustainability of the salad industry.

His wealth of experience and visionary leadership promises to reshape the future of salad production, addressing the challenges of today while preparing for the needs of future generations.
