FRANCE – In recognition of the company’s Founder, Mérieux NutriSciences, a global leader in food safety, quality, and sustainability, has changed the name of one of its food research facilities to Silliker Food Science Center.
Mérieux NutriSciences, which is commemorating its 55th anniversary, is looking back at the heritage and founders in order to motivate, learn from, and innovate for the future.
After opening his first lab in 1967, Dr. John H. Silliker rose to prominence in the fight against Salmonella and food safety. He created unique and useful answers to problems facing the food sector using science.
Many generations of scientists and food specialists have been influenced by his work and vision, and they still serve as the foundation for our innovation-driven methodology today, the company says.
“In this mindset, Mérieux NutriSciences dedicates its food research centers to Dr. John H. Silliker renaming it the Silliker Food Science Center,” it announced.
The Silliker Food Science Center’s core philosophy is to Inspire. Discover. Innovate.
Mérieux NutriSciences notes that as part of its ‘Inspire’ philosophy, Dr. John H Silliker has inspired generations of scientists. It’s with this inspiration that their scientists stand ready to continue the tradition of developing science and lead contract research projects for the food industry.
The Doctor’s fundamental principle was to provide a place to go when you need to know, bringing to life the ‘Discover’ philosophy, the company revealed.
“This has driven us to work alongside food companies to solve their unique challenges with shelf life extension, product integrity, and method applicability,” Mérieux said.
They add that Dr. John H. Silliker continually pushed the boundaries of ‘innovation’ which is continued today by their scientists.
Grounded on this philosophy, the Silliker Food Science Center’s mission is to be at the forefront of Food Safety, Quality, and Sustainability, to support food companies in their innovation development & critical investigations with tailored projects and protocols.
To serve this mission, the Silliker Food Science Center helps to conduct critical investigations and root cause analysis through advanced technologies, understand product defect and validate food manufacturing process.
The Center also supports product development, improves product shelf life and ensures matrix is fit for analytical method.
Its Certification division, was approved as a GLOBALG.A.P. Certification Body (CB) in April, with accreditation for GLOBALG.A.P. Integrated Farm Assurance, the world’s leading farm assurance certification program .
