U.S – Mérieux NutriSciences, a world leader in food safety, quality and sustainability, has announced the acquisition of Dyad Labs, an independent ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited contract laboratory, dedicated to the dietary supplements industry.

This acquisition diversifies Mérieux NutriSciences’ service offering and expands its footprint in the US to better serve the dietary supplements industry. Mérieux NutriSciences is part of Institut Mérieux, a French Holding company that imagines and develops new approaches in the fields of diagnostics, immunotherapy, food safety and nutrition.

“We are enthusiastic about having the talented team at Dyad Labs join us and welcome them to our network of laboratories. This acquisition supports our position as a major player in the dietary supplement market and strengthens our presence in the United States,” said Sébastien Moulard, President of Mérieux NutriSciences, North America.

Founded in 2008 and located in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dyad Labs previously called Genysis Labs, was created as the in-house testing laboratory for a large contract manufacturer of nutritional supplement products.

The lab which provides specialized chemistry and microbiology testing services to the Nutraceutical, Food and Beverage industries, comprises six separate lab areas with over 20,000 sq. feet (≈ 2000m2) of dedicated laboratory space.

These capabilities, as well as their history of providing tailored value-added solutions and long-standing partnerships with customers, make them an ideal fit with Mérieux NutriSciences’ purpose, vision and strategic objectives.

According to Jeff Reynolds, Founder of Dyad Labs, Dyad’s expertise in supplement testing for active lifestyle brand manufacturers combined with Mérieux NutriSciences’ dedication to protecting consumers’ health throughout the world will deliver a wide range of solutions to the food and nutrition industries.

“This will allow us to expand our services and expertise to better support our customer’s needs and enable their growth, while providing meaningful opportunities for Dyad team members,” he stated.

With 50 years of experience in food safety and quality, Mérieux NutriSciences has won the confidence of the food processing industry and extended its expertise to various industrial sectors.

The company has broadened its scope of scientific specialties from its initial expertise in microbiology and consulting into chemistry, education, certification, research, labeling, and sensory in order to offer a complete suite of services to meet customers’ needs.

Mérieux NutriSciences has a worldwide presence with more than 100 accredited laboratories and a team of over 8,000 committed employees.

In July this year, the company acquired Tracelab SpA., a laboratory offering specialized analytical services to the salmon farming industry in Chile.

Established in 2004 and with a staff complement of 21, Tracelab SpA., has 17 years’ experience in the chemical analysis of balanced feeds, premixes and additives, making it one of the leading service providers in pigment control for the Chilean salmon food industry.

With the acquisition of Tracelab SpA., Mérieux NutriSciences Chile, formerly Labser S.p.A., has expanded its presence in the Chilean market for salmon farming and salmon feed producers.
