SOUTH AFRICA – Mérieux NutriSciences South Africa has announced the official opening of its expansive microbiology laboratory in Claremont, Cape Town.

This facility, spanning an impressive 1300 m2 and staffed by 50 qualified Microbiologists, cements its position as one of the largest microbiology testing facilities in South Africa.

The new laboratory marks a substantial growth from its previous footprint, now totaling 2400 m2, showcasing Mérieux NutriSciences’ commitment to advancing testing capabilities.

The facility boasts unique capabilities, including industry-leading testing turnaround times and the capacity to conduct large format testing on 375ml sample sizes for specified matrices.

This expansion results in a remarkable 100% increase in testing capacity, meeting the escalating market demands for both quantitative and qualitative Analysis.

Incorporating advanced features such as centralized climate control and highly energy-efficient lighting technology, the facility aligns with Mérieux NutriSciences’ commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals related to climate change.

The emphasis on sustainability is evident in the design choices, reducing electrical consumption and contributing to a BETTER WORLD through environmentally conscious practices.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Nicolas Cartier (CEO) and Franck Capdevielle (VP MEA ASPAC & Corporate Development), underscoring the global significance of this milestone.

Both leaders joined the occasion from the Mérieux NutriSciences Global office in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, France, reaffirming the international recognition and importance placed on the capabilities of the Cape Town laboratory.
