Botswana Bureau of Standards drafts National Quality Policy to boost quality assurance efforts

BOTSWANA – The government, through the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS), has developed a National Quality Policy (NQP) whose draft is to be tabled for debate and approval at the November sitting of Parliament. The main aim of the policy is to ensure that Botswana has adequate and effective quality infrastructure, relevant legislation, and well-streamlined quality assurance efforts. This will significantly ensure international recognition of products produced in Botswana, as well as the organizations supporting them like BOBS and other regulators. Namibia recalls Tiger Brands products as other affected countries follow suite

SOUTH AFRICA – Namibia’s health ministry has instructed local environmental health practitioners to withdraw various KOO canned products, Hugo’s Baked Beans and Helderberg Peas, produced between 1 May 2019 and 5 May 2021, from Namibian shelves. Canned products forming part of this recall cover various KOO canned vegetable products, excluding all KOO canned fruit products, KOO pilchards and KOO products packaged in glass.
