SINGAPORE—The GrowHub Innovations Company has launched a new blockchain-powered food traceability platform designed to improve transparency in the agricultural ecosystem in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

This innovative platform, developed in Singapore, utilizes the immutability of public blockchain technology to provide comprehensive farm-to-fork visibility, enabling consumers to make informed decisions about the food they consume.

Central to The GrowHub’s platform is its traceability solution hosted on the Polygon network. The system records every stage of the supply chain journey in an immutable digital ledger, from ingredient sourcing and production processes to distribution logistics and retail sales.

Consumers can scan the QR code on product packaging to access real-time information about the farm of origin, production methods, and transportation routes. This comprehensive data capture ensures the authenticity and provenance of food items.

“Consumers today are savvier than ever before and keenly interested in the origins and ethical footprint of the food they consume,” said Lester Chan, Chief Executive Officer of The GrowHub. “They want to make purchases that align with their values. This heightened consciousness has exposed the lack of transparency that has permeated the food industry.”

Alec Ngo, Chief Operating Officer at The GrowHub, added, “Our blockchain traceability platform is a reliable solution designed to bridge that gap, giving consumers the power to verify a product’s origins, sustainability claims, and journey with absolute certainty. This level of visibility empowers buyers to make informed decisions that align with their values.”

Anti-Counterfeit measures and sustainability

The GrowHub’s platform also incorporates anti-counterfeit capabilities, using digital identifiers such as RFID and NFC tags to validate product authenticity at every supply chain checkpoint. This significantly reduces the risk of counterfeit goods infiltrating legitimate channels.

In addition to traceability and anti-counterfeit measures, The GrowHub is committed to sustainability. The platform features a carbon management tool that enables companies to accurately track and mitigate their environmental impact. This tool promotes eco-conscious agricultural practices across the region.

“We are building an ecosystem of trust, where accountability and responsible stewardship are the norms, not the exceptions,” said Ngo.

Blockchain technology is the catalyst for this transformation, empowering stakeholders with invaluable data insights to drive more informed decision-making.”

Expansion and market growth

The GrowHub is actively exploring expansion opportunities in APAC beyond its current markets in Japan, Australia, Bhutan, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

The company aims to capitalize on the region’s growing demand for food traceability and transparency.

According to a report by KBV Research, the APAC food traceability market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.6% from 2023 to 2030, driven by increased awareness and demand for food safety.

While focusing primarily on APAC, The GrowHub also recognizes the rising importance of food traceability in the United States and plans to establish a presence there.

“Our vision is to be the premier hub for a trusted network that spans entire supply chain ecosystems worldwide,” said Ngo.

“With blockchain as our foundation, we’re empowering every stakeholder to realize their full potential through the power of transparency and data-driven decision-making.”
