U.S – USANA, a renowned manufacturer of nutritional supplements and foods, has recently earned a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification for its foods manufacturing facility through the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) program.

This prestigious certification encompasses USANA’s production of enrobed snack bars and drink mix powders.

The certification comes as a result of USANA’s dedication to upholding stringent food safety and quality standards.

In 2019, USANA expanded its operations with the opening of a state-of-the-art foods facility adjacent to its main office and manufacturing hub in Salt Lake City, Utah. Spanning 43,000 square feet, this facility is equipped to handle various production processes, including bar, gusset, single-serve, and powder blending production.

Jim Brown, President and CEO of USANA, expressed pride in achieving the GFSI certification, emphasizing its significance in distinguishing USANA’s commitment to excellence in the competitive health and wellness industry. Brown commended the efforts of USANA’s manufacturing and quality teams for implementing the necessary standards and practices to pass the rigorous audit.

“Receiving our GFSI certification is a landmark moment for USANA and our manufacturing capabilities,” he said.

“In the crowded health and wellness space it’s important to differentiate yourself. Receiving this certification is a great way for us to do just that. I’m extremely proud of our manufacturing and quality teams who have implemented the standards and practices necessary to pass this demanding audit.”

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) was established in 2000 as a coalition comprising retailers, scientists, and members of the Consumer Goods Forum from 70 countries worldwide. GFSI aims to enhance food safety by defining elite industry standards, thereby reducing recalls and providing consumers with safer and more reliable products.

SQF, recognized by GFSI, is a leading food safety standard that sets stringent requirements for food safety management systems. Companies certified by SQF demonstrate compliance with GFSI’s global standards, enhancing their credibility and market access.

Walter Noot, Chief Operating Officer of USANA, lauded the achievement of SQF certification, emphasizing its significance as a testament to USANA’s dedication to the highest standards of production.

“SQF is considered to be the highest standard in the industry, and our certification with them places us at the top of the mountain,” he said.

Noot highlighted the opportunities this certification would create for USANA, particularly in the foods sector, and expressed gratitude to the team at USANA’s foods facility for their unwavering commitment to quality and safety standards.

USANA’s attainment of GFSI certification underscores its commitment to providing consumers with safe, high-quality products and reinforces its position as a leader in the health and wellness industry.
